About Granite Pavers

If you’re looking for a premium stone surface that’s also easy on the eyes and extremely durable and hard wearing, it’s hard to go past granite pavers.

Granite is an igneous rock which is formed by magma or lava solidifying and cooling over the span of millions of years. Mainly made of quartz, mica, and feldspar, this hard volcanic stone is popular in the building and construction industry because it is extremely tough and durable.

These qualities make granite pavers an ideal natural stone paving for interior and exterior areas. Due to its genetic makeup and strength, it is most suitable for driveways and commercial applications where the stone will be subject to heavyweight or pressure. Granite pavers are also highly resistant to scratching and abrasion which makes them super easy to maintain.

As a natural stone with speckles or flecks throughout it, granite is available in a few colours. At Armstone we offer a range of charcoal, mid-grey and earthy granite pavers for your choosing. Our pavers are also available in a variety of shapes and sizes whereby you can select thicknesses ranging from 12mm to 30mm.

As granite is a natural product, it has small hairline fractures throughout it. While you won’t be able to see them with your naked eye, they are there and under immense pressure can cause potential breakages down the track. So if you are considering using granite pavers for a driveway or heavy foot traffic area, we strongly recommend choosing thicker pavers that are at least 30mm thick.

Part of the durability of granite is that it is highly weather-resistant. As it is made of lava and magma, it is robust and can endure cold temperatures and heavy downpours.

When choosing your granite pavers you also want to consider its finish. At Armstone, we have both flamed and exfoliated finishes. A flamed finish means the paver has a textured surface which gives it a non-slip quality. This makes the granite pavers suitable for use around your pool, patio, courtyard or other outdoor areas with pathways and heavy foot traffic.

In case you want to add granite flooring all around your property, Armstone also offers granite tiles for interior use, and granite pool coping to finish off your poolside paving. Whether your residential or commercial property has a traditional or contemporary design, granite pavers will add character and substance that will last several lifetimes.

At Armstone, we pride ourselves on sourcing the finest quality outdoor granite tiles from the most reputable worldwide sources. We are always happy to work closely with you to bring your unique ideas and dreams to life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are granite pavers?

Granite pavers are made of a natural igneous rock. Granite is a type of volcanic stone that has been formed from the crystallisation of magma beneath the Earth’s surface, a process that takes millions of years. A strong and durable stone, granite is also very aesthetically beautiful, making it an ideal natural stone paver for your home.

Why granite pavers?

If you want to install natural stones for their aesthetics but require a material that is strong in nature, granite pavers are the optimal solution. Their exceptionally durable composition makes granite pavers ideal for high traffic areas such as driveways, walkways, outdoor entertainment areas and verandahs. As granite is water resistant, they’re even suitable for paving around the pool.

How to seal granite pavers?

Granite is a porous stone, so it’s important to seal the pavers in order to protect them from wear and tear and any erosion of their appearance. There are some sealers that can give the pavers a permanently glossy appearance which looks great around the pool. At Armstone, we stock a selection of specialised sealers, like our Aqua Mix range, which is perfect for the job.

How to clean granite pavers?

While granite pavers are an extremely durable stone, regular cleaning is recommended to ensure they remain impervious to the elements and general wear and tear. The simplest method to effectively clean your granite pavers is by mixing  detergent and warm water. If you have granite pavers installed in larger and more commercial areas that get higher levels of foot traffic, ‘ride on floor’ cleaners can be used to make the job easier.

How much are granite pavers?

The cost of granite pavers varies depending on three variables: the type of stone, it’s format and required thickness. If you need any help with this, contact us online or visit our Sydney showroom in Glebe for an obligation free, complimentary quotation.
