About Traditional Stone Cladding

If you’re looking to give your boring walls an upgrade or simply desire to transform a retaining wall into a feature, Traditional Wall Cladding is an excellent way to give the old a new look.

Unlike the other types of Wall Cladding like organic loose wall cladding, crazy wall cladding, stacked stone wall cladding and stone panels – all of which give a wall a contemporary appeal – Traditional Wall Cladding, while created using similar modern technology, gives a more traditional aesthetic.

So if your home has a more old-school look, installing traditional wall cladding will blend well with your style. This wall cladding is available in a variety of finishes and sizes, manufactured to the highest quality on the market.

Armstone’s Traditional Wall Cladding range includes Rosetta, Sandstone, Teakwood and Lancaster Wall Cladding. Each of them have been produced with traditional stonemason methods combined with modern design and cutting edge manufacturing techniques.

Possible applications for traditional wall cladding include decorating your home’s exterior walls and balustrades, framing the entrance to your home, creating a feature wall for you patio or poolscape, decorating features of your backyard like a fountain or fireplace area or bringing an outdoor stone wall vibe to the interior of your home.

Whatever you decide to do, your wall will definitely look a million dollars with this upgrade, without costing you a fortune. Why? Because unlike building a wall from scratch, which requires skill, time and a higher investment, installing traditional wall cladding is a much simpler process. Traditional Wall Cladding comes ready to install, with one side of the stone resembling a natural stone and the backing sawn flat, ready to be attached to your retaining wall.

As you can see, if you want to add value to your property or simply upgrade its features, traditional wall cladding is an excellent investment to bring a unique yet traditional flavour to your retaining walls.

With the beautiful natural undulations and markings on these stones, it’s easy to see why they are such a popular product amongst builders and home owners alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why stone cladding?

Stone wall cladding is an exceptional way of protecting both exterior and interior walls. Available in a wide range of colours, textures, shapes and formats, natural stone cladding adds monumental beauty wherever it is installed.

Some other advantages of stone cladding is that it’s waterproof, fireproof, extremely durable in all weather conditions, and provides a high level of insulation. It is also much easier to maintain than full natural stones and only requires regular cleaning to keep it in its originally installed, tip-top condition.

Can you paint stone cladding?

Stone cladding is naturally beautiful and doesn’t really need to be painted. However, if you really want to change (or highlight) it’s colour, it is very easy to paint. Natural stones don’t require much preparation. In fact, you can prepare them in three simple steps: first, clean them with soap and water or a non-acidic cleaning solution; second, use an acrylic latex primer to set the stage; and finally, to prevent the paint from soaking into the naturally porous stone, use a spray bottle to lightly mist the stone’s surface.

Alternatively, you can use masonry paint, which bonds with stone and forms a natural weatherproof layer. Once you’ve prepared the stone and allowed the paint to dry, coat it with sealant paint for more protection. This will add up to 25 years to the lifetime of your stone cladding!

How much does the stone cladding cost?

The cost of installing stone cladding in Sydney depends on the type of cladding you choose to use. On average, the cost varies anywhere between $110 and $310 per square meter, which translates to about $20,000 – $35,000 for the average sized home. This cost, including installation, can go up to the hundreds of thousands for a three-storey house or anything larger.

How to clean the stone wall cladding?

Stone wall cladding should be cleaned very gently with mild, non-acidic soap or detergents. Use a stiff plastic brush to remove dirt from the stone surface. We strongly recommend avoiding pressure cleaning, wire brushes, acidic detergents, and sandblasting, as all of these will damage the stone.
